A different way to explore what’s beneath the surface – with the horses as part of the constellation.
Family Constellations with Horses
What is different about a constellation with horses?
There is something very special about working with horses. They don’t know your story, and they don’t need to understand it. They simply respond to what is happening in the moment.
During a constellation, the horses are free to move, come closer, keep their distance or interact with what we have placed in the space. Sometimes their movements seem very clear, sometimes they are subtle – and sometimes nothing happens for a while.
We don’t try to make the horses do anything or interpret every movement. Instead, we stay curious and notice what happens and what it brings up for you.
For me, this makes working with horses both profound and gentle. There is less talking and often more experiencing.
How does it work?
Every constellation is different. Depending on your topic and what feels right in the moment, we may work entirely with the horses or combine their presence with floor markers or objects representing people, feelings or different parts of your system.
We begin by talking briefly about the topic you would like to explore. You don’t need to know what the constellation should look like or where it should lead.
From there, we set up the constellation and allow it to unfold step by step. The horses are free to participate in their own way, while we observe what changes – in the space, in their behaviour and, most importantly, in you.
There is no fixed outcome we need to reach. We follow what emerges and give it the time and space it needs.
Sometimes, it’s simply their presence.
Working with horses has changed the way I experience constellations myself. I’m still amazed by how naturally they become part of the process – sometimes very quietly, sometimes in ways that feel surprisingly clear.
I don’t feel the need to interpret everything they do. I prefer to stay curious and explore together with you what their presence and movements bring up for you.
And sometimes, simply being with them already changes something.
What can you bring to a constellation with horses?
You don’t need to have a topic that has anything to do with horses. The horses simply become part of the constellation and of the way we explore whatever is present for you.
You might come with a relationship that feels difficult, a recurring pattern, a decision you’re struggling with, a feeling you can’t quite understand or a situation in which you feel stuck.
And you don’t need to have it all figured out beforehand. Sometimes there is a very clear question. Sometimes there is simply a feeling that something isn’t quite right, or that you would like to understand something more deeply.
We can start from there and see what unfolds – with the horses beside us.
Do I need experience
with horses?
The simple answer is: no. You don’t need any previous experience with horses, and you will never be asked to do anything that doesn’t feel comfortable for you.
We take things slowly, and you decide how close you would like to be to the horses. A lot can happen simply by observing them and noticing what comes up for you.
I often work with people who have had little or no contact with horses before. Some have a lot of respect for them, and some are even a little afraid – and still feel drawn to experiencing a constellation with the horses.
I find these moments especially beautiful. When someone approaches the horses with a little uncertainty and then gradually begins to feel more comfortable in their presence, something very special can happen. Sometimes, these are the experiences that touch me the most.
